This week we are spotlighting Rachelle Mallatt who is a wonderful group leader and mentor for our ladies at Lily’s House. She is dedicated and passionate in helping the ladies in their journey to recovery.

In what capacity are you involved with Lily’s House and for how long have you been involved?
I am privileged to say that I am the resident mentor, I meet with each resident at least twice a week, together we work the 12 steps, using Celebrate Recovery material. We also do a bible study, each week I try to build a scripture lesson with an issue they may be struggling with in their current situations, or may struggle with later in recovery. What started as a short term community service project, quickly turned into a vital part of my own recovery program. Mentoring the girls there has helped me as much, or more, than it has them! Building lasting relationships with each resident gives me great joy, and gives them someone they know they can depend on even after they leave the shelter.
What great things have you seen accomplished at Lily’s House since you’ve been involved?
I have seen Faith move mountains , I have seen relationships restored, lives transformed, and addictions overcame! Children reunited with Moms, and just so many answered prayers.
How has serving at Lily’s House changed your life?
Like I said above I cannot imagine my life without Lily’s House in it. Being a mentor to the girls helps me just as much or more than it does them. It is the instilling of hope, testifying of Christ’s love and power, and the accountability that keeps my recovery strong. We can only keep what we have by giving it away and I fully intend to keep building these amazing girls up for as long as Lily’s House allows me to be involved!!
Can you give a specific example of a time when you saw something amazing happen in the life of one of our moms?
When Molessa started working at the shelter was a very proud moment for me. I have spent a LOT of time 1:1 personally mentoring Mo and to see her recovery come full circle was really rewarding. I remember feeling great hope and excitement that the work I am doing and the time I am spending with these ladies is all paying off!!
What would you like people to know about Lily’s House that they might not already know?
That the team of people working behind the scenes at this shelter, is second to none!! I have never been more proud to be a part of such an amazing group of people! Each person giving so much love and work into making each resident as successful as possible! I have never seen such a group of loving, caring, all around amazing individuals and I am so blessed to be a part of that team!! We all say all the time “I love our team” and I think we all truly do!!
