What circumstances led you to seek help at Lily’s House?
My life was insanity. I grew up in a broken home and was in revolving addiction from the age of 6 years old, starting with weed and eventually moving to opiates, meth, and morphine. I asked God for help in September 2018 and received a blessing in disguise in November 2018 when DFS placed my youngest and only child I still had custody of with a cousin. I spiraled in drug use then went into rehab but quickly returned to my old people, places, and ways. When I relapsed, everything was insanity again. In July 2020 I entered Lily’s House and recently celebrated 200 days clean.
How has Lily’s House helped you redirect your life?
Lily’s House has guided me by giving me a stable environment, supportive people, and counseling. I started going to Heartland Baptist Fellowship and attending their addiction ministry program, Life Issues. I was saved on August 9, 2020.
How has Lily’s House helped you to be a better mom?
Lily’s House helped me reunite with my daughter. I’m now in the process of trying to locate and reunite with my other children. I’m taking parenting classes and learning better ways to discipline, which is a work in progress but so much better. I’m giving my daughter a stable and loving environment.
Can you give us a specific example of a time when the staff or volunteers at Lily’s House made a difference in your recovery?
Lily’s House has made a difference in my life everyday, but specifically on 9/11/2020 when I reunited with my daughter. On my birthday and Thanksgiving they all showed they loved me.
